Computer Hack Prevention at COD

With 2 computer ransomware attacks at College of the Desert in the last four years, costing the college millions of dollars, you would think new computer hardware and software upgrades would be a high priority at College of the Desert.  It is a high priority to everyone except current Trustee Bea Gonzalez. On April 19, 2024, Trustee Bea Gonzalez was the ONLY trustee to vote “No” on nearly $1 million in contracts brought forth by COD’s Information Technology staff to fortify COD’s computer networks.  Computer hacks put faculty, staff, and students’ personal information at risk for fraud and identity theft.

This November 5th, vote for former (2012-2020) COD Trustee Mary Jane Sanchez for COD Board – Area 2 and she will make sure that COD’s IT staff have the resources to prevent future ransomware attacks in order to protect students’ personal data being exposed to the dark web.  We need Mary Jane back on the board to vote “Yes” for the betterment of higher education in the Coachella Valley.
